Last date night, my wife and I decided to try out Cork & Rye Gastropub in Warwick. Sittingnext to Warwick Mall and the part of Route 5 called “Greenwich Avenue”, this cozy spot offered a blend of upscale pub food and a relaxed atmosphere.
The restaurant is known for its upscale pub food made in their scratch kitchen along with liquid refreshment – wine, whiskey, and creative cocktails. So armed with a gift card from a family member who recommended the restaurant to us, we set out to experience Cork and Rye for ourselves.
Upon entering, we were greeted warmly and quickly seated. The service was attentive and friendly, setting a positive tone for the evening. We chose to dine outside, taking advantage of the cool summer evening. The outdoor seating provided a quieter atmosphere compared to the smaller, high-top table-dominated indoor space.
For my meal, I opted for the classic pub grub hamburger with fries. The burger was juicy and flavorful, perfectly complemented by the crispy fries. It was exactly what I hoped for in a comfort food experience.
My wife chose the Broiled Atlantic Cod, which was a delightful surprise. The fresh Atlantic cod was broiled to perfection and served on a bed of seasonal vegetables. The dish was not only visually appealing but also packed with flavors that highlighted the freshness of the ingredients.
To complement our meals, my wife sampled an Irish Mule, a variant of the classic Moscow Mule, served in a charming copper cup. The blend of Irish whiskey, ginger beer, and lime juice was refreshing and added a nice touch to our dining experience.
For dessert, we indulged in a crème brûlée, something that I wouldn’t expect from the typical corner pub, a great sign that this is an upscale restaurant that takes the food as seriously as the alcohol. Cracking through the crispy toasted crust to reach the cool, custardy inside added a piece of fun to the dessert.
Overall, our dining experience at Cork & Rye was positive. The combination of good food, friendly service, and a welcoming atmosphere made it an enjoyable evening. While it was pricier than we normally expect at a pub, the quality and experience were well worth it. I would recommend Cork & Rye to anyone looking for a pleasant dinner, perhaps as a date-night destination. We look forward to our next visit!
