Seven Reasons to Love CW Lanes

The managers of CW Lanes consider their venue to be a restaurant with bowling lanes, but the CW Lanes can’t be tagged simply as a restaurant or bowling alley. They’ve put a lot of things to do in one up-tempo, millennial-friendly entertainment center, with bowling, an excellent restaurant, bar, a large game room, laser tag, and party rooms, adjacent to the Lincoln Mall’s Cinema World.

Their bowling lanes have left behind the bowling alley décor of the 1950’s, instead embracing polished lines, upscale comfort, and exciting lighting. Over the lanes are big-screen TV’s to let bowlers enjoy the game… while bowling a game. There are no bowling leagues to dominate the lanes, making the lanes more available throughout the week.

Players lounge on leather couches and have access to the full restaurant and bar menu.

CW Lane’s restaurant would be a reason to drive to Lincoln all by itself. While it might be expected that a bowling alley restaurant can serve Cajun, Texas BBQ, Maple Bourbon, Mango Habanero and 14 other varieties of chicken wings. Appetizers include truffle fries, a trio of BBQ sliders, Portuguese style calamari, and fried pickles in addition to more traditional appetizer foods like nachos and mozzarella sticks.

Monster stuffed potatoes can be filled with chili, avocado, sautéed mushrooms, or 10 other ingredients, then topped with Texas style brisket, smoked pulled pork, or pulled chicken.

The build-your-own concept carries through to the burgers made with a half-pound of beef, chicken, eggplant, or garden-veggie burgers, then topped with a broad array of ingredients. The restaurant’s chef has already selected special combinations, making it easier to tingle the taste buds with a sweet Fig Burger or a spicy Tex-Mex Burger.

Then there’s build-your-own pizzas, with their own array of ingredients . And grilled sandwiches, wraps, and flat breads, soups, hummus spreads, salads.

But don’t forget the entrees. Their marbled ribeye steak is served with wild mushroom risotto and grilled broccoli rabe topped with an onion ragu will keep any foodie happy… unless they prefer their grilled garden vegetables, chicken parmesan, meatballs, or blackened chicken or shrimp, all crafted to be so delicious that you forget about the bowling alley. You’ll want to save room for dessert!

Oh, and of course there’s a children’s menu too.

CW Lanes’ bar keeps a menu as broad as the restaurant’s, with 14 draft beers, selected wines, bottled craft beer, and specialty drinks served in a circular bar with radiating tables, letting everyone interact with the bartenders. The bar staff will be glad to whip up a mixed drink to remember, whether a seasonal flavor or something different and unexpected.

So eat before bowling, eat after bowling, eat during the bowling… but don’t eat during laser tag. The room filled with a florescent painted urban maze, smoke, and techno music is the perfect place to hunt and be hunted with your friends. There’s a special remote-operated laser turret for those who can’t run and dodge, letting them join in the fun.

There’s also an extensive game room, with games for prizes like skiball and competitive games like a monster-sized air hockey table, tandem shooter games, and head-to-head video racing. Prize points are both handled through the magnetic card that also handles the game credits.
The game room and laser tag are great for parties, and the folks at CW lanes can arrange everything. They can also host bowling parties in a private section of the lanes.

All of this is in Lincoln Mall, next to the Cinema World theaters. That means free parking, easy access, and plenty of other reasons to be in the area — presuming that delicious food, well stocked bar, laser tag, game room, parties, and of course bowling isn’t enough. But how can that not be enough not to jump in the car and run to CW Lanes right away?
