Victorian Elegance in the Shadow of the Rhode Island State House

State House Inn B&B in Providence

By Linda Eagleson

Imagine a weekend getaway with your loved one in an elegant Bed and Breakfast, complete with gas fireplaces, canopy beds and a luscious breakfast in the morning. Better than that, this one is located so close to a major metropolis that it's within walking distance. You'll never be at a loss for things to do in this city, as it offers a host of events that would keep the average person busy enough for weeks.

Google
Well, this Bed and Breakfast is (or should I say "these" Bed and Breakfasts are) located right on the edge of downtown Providence. They are : The State House Inn Bed and Breakfast, What Cher Bed and Breakfast, Christopher Dodge Bed and Breakfast and the Mowry Nicholson Bed and Breakfast.

Why do I think these Bed and Breakfasts are so fantastic. Well, let me tell you why.......

  1. Check in is at a reasonable time, 2:00, so you can start you day early, unpack and enjoy your surroundings a bit before heading off for dinner at any of the many fine dining restaurants in Providence close to the B & B's.
  2. Easy accessibility from either 95 north or south, and that in itself has a lot to say in a busy metropolis. Since there are 4 B & B's, there are an adequate amount of rooms to accommodate an entire wedding party and guests of 200 or more! Or maybe a high school reunion! Needless to say, there are many rooms available.
  3. Enjoy an evening in the city after checking into your Victorian theme rooms, complete with canopy beds and gas fireplaces. Some rooms even come equipped kitchenettes, to keep that business man pretty comfortable for many days.
  4. Wake up to the beautiful site of our famous state capitol, and enjoy its brilliance with the new morning sun highlighting Providence's skyline.
  5. How about a scrumptious breakfast in the morning. Succulent fresh fruit, savory omelets and mouth watering baked goods, complete with an old fashioned decor and fire place?
  6. Relax in your room all evening, enjoying the elegance of the Victorian decor. Warm yourself in front of the fireplace, sipping fine wine, cheese and crackers bought from the famous Federal Hill bakeries.
  7. How about planning that special romantic getaway, that isn't too far from home, but far enough from home, if you know what I mean.
  8. Affordable rates, starting as low as $99-$150. Quite within the range of most B & B's in the area and well worth it!
  9. Tour the elegant B & B's and learn the history of each building. Some of the inns were boarding houses at one time, and have been completely remodeled, but still maintain the historic flavor of the original buildings.
  10. When its time to go home, you may just decide to stay another day, as these B & B's will bring you back to a time when rest was a necessity and work a commodity.

Remember, we all deserve to be treated special at different times in our lives. So why not treat yourself to a stay at these magnificent B & B's and be ready to adorn yourself in the scents and sights of Providence at its best! You deserve it!
