Supporting our feet in the comfort

Orthaheel Slippers

There isn’t anything more comfortable to me when I come home from being on my feet all day than to kick off my shoes and slip into my soft, cuddly green fleece slippers, with their little green bows adorning the sides.  I scuff around the house, making supper, petting the dogs, and then finally sitting down in front of the television to catch up on the day’s events.  Ah….relief at last.

To be honest, I never really think about my feet once I have my slippers.  I’m just glad to get out of my clunky shoes and put on something comfortable.  I probably should care, since I have a multitude of foot problems, ranging from Plantar Fascitis to plain old bunions, but I don’t.  When Orthaheel asked me to try out their orthotic slippers, I said sure, probably just another uncomfortable thing to put on my feet.  But, as usual, I was wrong.

They sent me a pair of their highly recommended ‘Relax Slippers.’ The slipper was made of 100% polyester terry-cloth material and the upper part had a Velcro closure for easy slip-on.  The bottom of the show is made from EVA.  I didn’t have any idea what that was so I googled it and found that EVA  “is the copolymer of ethylene and vinyl acetate. The weight percent vinyl acetate usually varies from 10 to 40%, with the remainder being ethylene.”  In other words, the sole is very flexible, durable and can handle a lot of stress on the feet.

Being the skeptic that I am, I was sure that these slippers were going to be a nuisance, since they are orthotic and probably hadsome kind of uncomfortable insert built in.  At first, it took a little while to get use to the ‘healthy feeling’, so to say of the slipper but before I knew it, they felt great!  I found myself actually lifting my feet as I walked around the house rather than scuffing along the floor like I usually do.  Oh, don’t get me wrong because I do scuff a lot, but I felt myself not wanting to.  I did feel myself standing straighter in posture and when I finally turned in for the night, my feet felt like they had just been pampered to the hilt!

I was also amazed at how well the slippers were designed.  I have had with orthotic shoes in the past and that being the shoes were bulky, heavy and plain old ugly, these slippers were quite the opposite.  They looked like an actual slipper; promising comfort all night long to those tired feet of mine.

Oh, one more thing that I forgot to mention is that the foot-bed is treated with an anti-bacterial, odor resistant ECO fresh product.  I don’t know about you, but after a few weeks (months?) of wearing slippers every night, after having tired, achy and stinky smelling feet in shoes all day, my slippers tend to be pretty ‘ripe’, as my son would put it.  I have had these slippers now for over a month on my feet and I haven’t noticed anything, Even my dogs don’t walk away with them because we all know that dogs love stinky, raunchy smelling things.  Not this time.

I have to say that I am very, very pleased with the “Relax Slippers” as they are referred to in their catalog.  Not just because they are helping my foot and back ailments, but also because I can look at them and say that my feet are in for a treat with these slippers!

Orthoheel sells a variety of other products for both men and women, ranging from slippers all the way to boots, all designed with helping to keep the feet healthy.  I would suggest visiting their website at: http://www.orthaheelusa.com for more information on where to purchase, pricing and availability.  Comfortable feet in the confines of your home at last!
