SEA ISLAND UPS THE ANTE

NEW EXECUTIVE CHEF AND EXPANDED DINING OPTIONS

Under the direction of new Executive Chef/Director of Culinary Programming Jonathan Jerusalmy, one of only 350 master French chefs in the world, Sea Island recently rolled out four new additions to its already expansive array of dining options. Having worked at the luxurious St. Regis Atlanta and trained in Michelin-rated restaurants in France, Jerusalmy brings his distinguished experience to Sea Island to oversee the various fine and casual dining establishments, including the roll out of Tavola, a true rustic Italian dining experience, Southern Tide, a casual ocean-front Southern seafood experience, Wonderland, the new Sea Island sweet shop that is sure to delight young and old, and the Snack Shack, a casual walk up eatery in the heart of the Sea Island Beach Club featuring light fare and snacks. Sea Island now offers guests nine options to choose from ranging from food truck to five-star!

“Our guests are very excited about the new food and beverage offerings that we have added to the already award-winning dining experience here at Sea Island,” said Casey Lavin, Director of Food and Beverage for Sea Island. “Having an authentic trattoria, a true Southern seafood experience, a convenient snack shop and Wonderland – dedicated to that sweet tooth in all of us, really ensures that we are appealing to our guests’ diverse tastes.”

Under the direction of Chef Paola Bugli, who melds her Italian upbringing with local ingredients, Tavola pays homage to its rustic Italian concept with a warm and inviting ambience where guests can interact with the chef as she tosses pizza, slices house-cured prosciutto, and bakes mouthwatering olive ciabatta in the open kitchen. Specialties will include house-made pasta such as the Papperdelle ($18) – house made ribbon pasta with braised rabbit ragu; the wood-fired, hand-tossed Tavola pizza ($13) – with house-made sausage, rapini, aged gouda, and classic dishes such as Osso Bucco ($34) – a slow braised veal shank served with soft polenta. Located at The Cloister, Tavola is open daily, except Wednesday, from 5:30pm to 9:30pm.

Southern Tide is Sea Island’s newest oceanside restaurant overlooking the dunes of Sea Island Beach and the Atlantic Ocean. Honoring the traditions of Sea Island, Southern Tide will tap into Chef Peter D’Amico’s strong southern influences to offer such mouthwatering comfort dishes as: Shrimp and Grits ($25) – with country ham, tomato, and Logan Turnpike grits in a shrimp cream sauce; Slow Smoked Oak Brined Pork Ribs ($23) – cane syrup glazed with Woodford Bourbon baked beans; and Georgia Grilled Quail ($26) – with mustard greens, sweet potato purée and broken Vidalia onion vinaigrette with a Port reduction. Located at The Sea Island Beach Club, Southern Tide will serve lunch daily from 11:00am – 3:00pm, and dinner from 5:30pm – 9:30pm. Breakfast is served at Southern Tide seasonally, including now and through the summer.

The Wonderland sweet shop will turn Sea Island into every kid’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, with 12 house-made ice creams to choose from and over 65 varieties of candy. Delight in any of Wonderland’s sweet treats, from ice cream to malts, and milk duds to milk shakes. With new twists on old favorites like the S’more Sundae ($6) – which features chocolate or vanilla ice cream layered between graham cracker crumbs, a layer of marshmallow sauce, a layer of chocolate sauce and topped with whipped cream and a graham cracker garnish; and the signature Gold Brick Sundae ($8) – a trio of vanilla ice cream, pecan tuile and warm gold brick topping. Located in the center of The Cloister Beach Club, Wonderland is accessible from all three pools and the beach and is open daily from 12-8pm.

Sea Island’s Snack Shack is open seasonally and features casual fare such as amazing burgers, “Go Dawgs” hot dogs, sandwiches, cool salads and sushi. Located in the heart of the Sea Island Beach Club, Snack Shack appeals to beach and pool goers with seating on the terrace overlooking the family pool. Signature burgers include The Southerner ($10) – Six- ounce beef pattie, caramelized Vidalia onions and bacon jam, pimento cheese spread with crisp iceberg lettuce and vine-ripe tomatoes, and the Maui Wowie ($11) – Six-ounce beef pattie, grilled pineapple, grilled pepper ham, fontina cheese and finished with Maui onions.
