Cool autumn breezes caressed the seashore, as my companion and I strolled along the beautiful shoreline of Buttonwoods City Park in Warwick. I was surprised to find the vastness of the town beach as immense as it was, lined with sandy shores and brightly colored trees.
It comes decorated with park benches, play grounds, and beautiful scenery, overlooking Greenwich Bay.
Walkers will be entertained with a breathtaking view of placid waterways, sailboats careening along the
sea shore and park benches to sit and read an interesting novel. The park offers a biking/walking trail that
weaves it way through densely lined trees and beautiful displays of foliage.
Enjoy the crystal clear water by taking a dip, or just dip your toes if one you dare brave the icy water of autumn and winter.
Sandcastles are a must if you are going to spend the day at the park. Remember to bring your favorite pail and shovel,
as you will definitely be able to build a towering castle made from the fine sand along the shore.
Don't speed through the park, as there are lots of avid joggers who will emerge from the forest, just as you
round the corner to enter the parking lot.
Come, pack a lunch and the kids, or maybe even have a romantic rendezvous at this quaint little park in Warwick.
To get to the park from I-95, take exit 10A to Route 117 east for about 2 miles to Buttonwsoods Road,
then left on Asylum Road, which leads directly into the park. During the height of the summer, the park is reserved
for Warwick residents.
