Sushi in Johnston, RI By Linda Green If you like Sushi, you'll love Wasabi, a new sushi bar in Johnston. I've been there many times now, and it's always delicious.
However, it was the Sushi Chefs,
waitresses and other staff that made me say yes, this is for me. Their
enthusiasm with their new restaurant was catching as I was given "the
best seat in the house", right in front of the Itamae's (that's the
Sushi chef) working area, where you can see everything being made up
from scratch.
If you catch a slow time for them, they will explain just
about everything you ever wanted to know about Sushi and more.
I've tried just about everything on the Sushi & Sashimi menu and loved every
morsel, from the variety of fresh fish to their California roll. They
even have a Johnston roll that's delicious. My favorite is the Wasabi
roll, consisting of tuna, yellow tail, cucumber & avocado rolled inside
out.
Everything is so very fresh, expertly prepared and looking ever so
enticing. Of course looks are one thing, it's the fresh flavors of
Sushi that are so amazingly addictive. Often they have live scallop.
You've never tasted scallop until you've had it fresh and raw, and
served with it in the opposite shell was an octopus salad, I was in
heaven.
Although small, I'd say Wasabi is right up there with the best
of Sushi restaurants in Rhode Island. They offer up a large menu that
includes a wide variety of dishes for the non Sushi customers also. So
far I haven't found anything I didn't like about Wasabi. Give this
Japanese cooking a try!
