What’s a better way to start 2005's nightlife than having a couple of drinks with friends and listening to some good music in a nice locale? There are many places in RI to enjoy but few stand out like my favorite three. If you are looking for new places to check out to start the New Year you should definitely check out McFadden’s, Ri-Ra and the Fish Co.

McFadden’s is you average college bar. So you’re probably wondering why it’s in my top three. Well, what make McFadden’s different from other bars are the special events they have on Thursday nights and the building itself. Yes I said the building; McFadden’s has a superb layout, with the restaurant room being converted to a dance floor at night and a cigar room with a bar and leather couches for all you socialites out there. And you can’t miss the over forty strategically placed TV’s around the bar so you’ll always know what’s going on.

Ri-Ra is a small bar, but what it lacks in size in makes up in character. Ri-Ra doesn’t play your average nightclub music like everywhere else. Ri-Ra hosts an assortment of live music, making it stand out in the Providence night scene. The calm atmosphere and very pleasant staff enhance the already outstanding setting.

Fish co.’s main draw is the people. Playing host to mostly a college scene, Fish Co. is a nice place to go to if you are new to the area or if you’re a college student and want to meet new people. The large bar area helps moving around due to the fact the place is usually packed. The music is average and the location is nice being its right on the water.

There are many places to check out in RI but if you are interested in something new I recommend these places to check out, whether to ring in the New Year or to visit at any other time.
