Wine Down Thursdays

Sipping Distinctive Wines and Enjoying Small Bites on The Patio

One Bellevue at Hotel Viking invites wine lovers to enjoy some delicious wines with passed small bites every Thursday evening this June. It's a chance to be with friends, meet new folks, sip and learn about yummy wines - an early start to a fun-filled summer weekend.

   "Wine Down Thursdays" will be held on the patio of Hotel Viking's One Bellevue restaurant. Guests will sample wines from different leading vineyards during each Thursday session.

A wine expert passionately familiar with the featured wines and wineries will be on-hand to spread the word about the unique nuances of each tasting selection. Small bites prepared by Chef Kevin Thiele will be passed to complement each wine.

June 7 - Renwood Winery in Amador Country is located in the picturesque foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains in what was California's "Gold Country". Tasting of handcrafted Zinfandel considered to be some of the best Zin found anywhere in the world, as well as Renwood's distinctive Amador Ice Wine.

June 14 - Sebastiani Vineyards & Winery based in Sonoma Valley, CA will be sending Donna Hutchinson along to introduce four new releases produced by this 103-year-old, award-winning winery: AV Cabernet; Dutton Ranch Chardonnay; Secolo and Un-Oaked Chardonnay.

June 21 - Malbec from Argentina is known to be the premier wine from this continuously emerging wine appellation. These Malbecs are big high-end reds produced by small artisan producers. Elizabeth Vanderbeen of Bullington Imports will offer three unique tastes of Argentinian Malbecs and share her knowledge about these boutique wines.

June 28 - Wine aficionados are more and more interested in the wines of South Africa. These simply refreshing, mostly white wines, are produced mainly around Cape Town with major vineyard centers at Paal, Stellenbosch and Worcester. Jim Kowalshyn of Vineyard Brands will be telling participants much more and offering three different wines to taste.

The wine tastings run 6 to 7:30 PM, At One Bellevue, One Bellevue Avenue, Newport in the Hotel Viking. Cost is $40 per person or $125 per person for the series of four "Wine Down Thursdays".
