Andreas Segovia - Gust of Wind

Gust of Wind
Art print by Andreas Segovia

Whisper
Paul Pence

She sweeps the clouds with slightest whim, her fury none withstand
Yet still you long to sieze her might and bind her with your hand.

I sought her, once, with sacrifice and counted on her grace
On borrowed wings, I climbed to her, forsook reality
Her storms I braved and floated free, her fingers touched my face
I thrilled to her and emptiness and my mortality
With silken strands and finest weave, I claimed her as my own
I knew her soul, and she held mine, my goddess and her man.
But when I paused, my feet touched earth, I found that she had flown
And from the ground I heard her laugh as high above she ran.

So you'd climb into her realm, where you do not belong.
Tempt her with your sacrifice and try to prove me wrong
Whisper's breath will slip from grasp, her mighty storm's too strong
Harness, ropes, and cunning silks will not hold her for long.
