Budding

Henry Barnard Playground - July, 2002

A girl reaches for a leaf,
fingers its gloss, pulls
so that petals tickle
her nose. She rises
from bent knees, twirls,
squeals to a friend,
"It's tomorrow!"
then captures time in
a white blossom
she crayons on paper.
