Ophelia's Wardrobe, a benefit for Child & Family's Ophelia Programs, returns to Newport June 19th through the 21st. Gently used designer and vintage men’s, women’s and children’s fashions will be sold at Wakehurst Mansion, on the campus of Salve Regina University.

Ophelia’s Wardrobe will have everything from funky accessories to unique evening and casual wear, at prices you won’t find anywhere else. Smart shoppers will find designer and vintage clothing from Armani, Chanel, Gucci, Givenchy, J. P. Gaultier, Valentino, Estevez, Escada, Burberry, Brooks Brothers, Ricci, Jimmy Choos, Prada and more at deeply discounted prices. The event also offers a rare opportunity to acquire fabulous clothing from the personal collection of the late Doris Duke.

Shoppers will be amazed at the quality. What a great opportunity to walk away with a stylish bargain while supporting girls and young women from our community!”

Richard Carbotti and Perfect Surroundings, Inc will transform Wakehurst Mansion, into a magical fashion fantasy incorporating the theme of Clothing for all Seasons. “Richard is creating an environment that has elegance, style and a funky, fun, fashion flair” according to Ambrogi.

The event kicks off Friday June 19th with an “invitation only” preview and purchase cocktail party and auction. The outfits from the personal collection of the late Doris Duke that are sold Friday night will be on display for all to see Saturday and Sunday. The sale is open to the public Saturday, June 20th from 10am – 4pm and Sunday, June 21st, 10am – 1pm.

Purchases will be supporting Child & Family’s Ophelia Programs, a set of services designed to inspire, educate, and support girls and young women in Newport County and beyond. Chanel Black Blazer

Vintage 1960’s Chanel black short sleeve blazer, 100% cotton with white silk trim and a 100% silk lining. It has five gorgeous white and gold buttons that display the Chanel logo. A classic cut blazer with shoulder pads that create a soft rounded shoulder and two front pockets. Great condition. Modern size 6.

Harvey Berin by Karen Stark Vintage 1940’s cocktail dress

Description: Harvey Berin, the manufacturer, and Karen Stark, the designer, worked closely to produce feminine, ladylike designs. Each season they adapted styles from Paris couture for the American market. Founded in 1921, the firm was an important name in high quality ready-to-wear from the 1940s to 1970. Pat Nixon's inaugural gown of 1969 was a Karen Stark/Harvey Berin creation. Long sleeve cocktail dress with Swarovski Crystals trimmed on neckline and the sleeves. This cocktail dress is made of silk and dates back to the 1940’s.

The Child & Family Ophelia Programs are an innovative and inspiring series of community forums for girls and young women. The program welcomes and engages girls and young women between the ages of 11 and 18 from diverse backgrounds in a safe and inviting environment to explore the social, psychological and cultural issues which have a lifelong impact on their development. Child & Family is a private, 501(c) 3 Social Service Agency.
