RI Arts/Culture Two Musical Evenings At The Breakers Planned During Newport Winter Festival On Saturday, February 18, it's Broadway at The Breakers from 5 pm to 7 pm, as your self-guided tour is accompanied by music from the Great White Way. Performing will be Cabaret Elegance, a mixed voice theatrical chorus, and Pamela Lancaster, an accomplished soloist who has performed in musicals and operas in New York and England. On Saturday, February 25, enjoy American Music at The Breakers as you tour the house from 5 pm to 7 pm. The Bridgewater State College Alumni Chamber Choir will perform selections reflecting the American Spirit, including American folk songs and music composed or arranged by American musicians. Also performing will be several local and instrumental soloists, as well as the college's African Drumming Ensemble. Light refreshments will also be served on both evenings. Admission is $20 in advance ($15 for Preservation Society members); $25 at the door. Newport Winter Festival button holders and Preservation Society members pay $20 at the door. Tickets can be purchased online at www.NewportMansions.org. Schedule of performers is subject to change. Its interiors include rich marbles and gilded rooms, a 50-foot high Great Hall, mosaic tile floors and ceilings, and open-air terraces with magnificent ocean views. The Preservation Society of Newport County, Rhode Island is a non-profit educational organization accredited by the American Association of Museums and dedicated to preserving and interpreting the area’s historic architecture, landscapes and decorative arts.
