Now That'S Funny!

Just in time to loosen up your February freeze The Firehouse hosts a new revue that digs up just about every piece of material anyone's ever laughed at.

Joe Miller's joke book (Lincoln's personal source for gags), burlesque, vaudeville, Shakespeare, one-liners, knock-knocks, poems, stories, blonde jokes, lawyer jokes, classic comedy routines like "Who's On First" and "Slowly I Turned," something for everybody. Directing the three-person show and on the stage himself will be Rhode Island veteran actor and director Bob Colonna. He says, "Well, this is it. Finally a chance to do all the funny stuff I've ever enjoyed. It's like getting to sing all your favorite songs in one night. And I'm really excited to have Carl Ruggiero and Jan Mariani in the cast. They are two wonderful actors and very funny people. Rehearsals are tough because we keep cracking up over the material, but we'll hold it together somehow."

"We're doing everything from formal poetry reading to knockabout slapstick. If you're wondering, it's basically PG, a little racy once in a while, but definitely no bad words or anything."

"Now That's Funny" is a full-length evening with one intermission "to carry out the overwhelmed" as Colonna puts it. And he adds, "Oh, yes. Tell folks they're welcome to bring their own one-liners, riddles or knock-knocks and we'll use them in the show that night."

“Now That’s Funny” runs Friday and Saturday nights at 8:00 pm and Sundays at 2:00 pm from February 11 through March 6 at Firehouse Theater, 4 Equality Park Place, Off Broadway in Newport, RI. Tickets are $20.00. Reservations suggested, call 401-849-FIRE (3473). Ask about group discounts.
