Great North Woods

The REAL New Hampshire

Woods and water dominate the landscape in the Great North Woods. Sporting adventures are a way of life – from hunting to fishing, camping, hiking, boating, wildlife watching and snowmobiling. The region is unique in other ways, too. Close proximity to Canada’s Province of Quebec, as well as the Maine and Vermont borders, has resulted in a fascinating mix of cultures and outlooks.

In New Hampshire, the Great North Woods is an official state tourist region, located in Coos County, the northernmost county in the state. The northern part of the White Mountain National Forest is located in this region. The city of Berlin, known for its large paper mill, is found in the Great North Woods Region of New Hampshire.
