Historic Bowen’s Wharf is hard at work setting up a brand new event to celebrate the beauty of spring. Before long, planters, window boxes, and containers surrounding the one-of-a-kind shops and restaurants will spill over with vibrant floral arrangements. On the day before Mother's Day, Saturday, May 7, the wharf will host the first of what is planned to be an annual Bowen’s Wharf In Bloom: a flower and plant sale to benefit Newport In Bloom and Aquidneck Growers’ Market.

Local growers and landscapers will present a variety of ``````` homegrown flowers and plants, design services, and related garden items for sale under the big festival tent. Live music is provided by local favorites: Atwater-Donnelly 11:00-1:45, and Beyond Blonde 1:45-4:00. The Wharf Pub & Restaurant will sell light fare under a separate tent, including their award-winning chowder! The outdoor patio at 22 Bowen’s Wine Bar & Grille will be open for business.

Sponsors of Bowen’s Wharf In Bloom include The Bowen’s Wharf Merchants Association, The Newport Daily News and Newport Life Magazine. Festival hours are Saturday, May 7, from 11a.m. until 4p.m. The festival is free and open to the public, RAIN OR SHINE!
