Eco-Nomical

Sustainable Eco-Vacations

Adventure and eco-travel trailblazer Greenloons http://www.greenloons.com/ helps source dream green vacations without depleting the budget. Calling many of her personally vetted ecotourism destinations and lodges “eco-nomical”, Irene Lane, visionary founder of Greenloons, outlines new programs for 2012 that she believes fall into the affordable category by virtue of providing high value for less money and because of ease of air access to a destination.

“As the popularity of environmentally friendly products has grown over the years, consumers have been conditioned to believe that green goods or eco products equate to more expensive merchandise,” says Lane. “With regard to ecotourism, this is simply not the case. It is possible to participate in ecotourism and stay well within your vacation budget. With options ranging from luxurious to the bucolic, you don’t have to compromise your standards for a responsible travel experience.”

Four of her 2012 “eco-nomical” suggestions (under $2,000 per person) include sailing in Croatia, home stays in Patagonia, multi-sporting in Newfoundland and cycling in Morocco.

Sail Croatia (8 days) – Guests cruise Adriatic Sea’s calm waters, visit a tangle of ancient laneways in Ston and spot native birds in Mljet’s national park.
