Connecticut Foliage Forecast

Now's the time for leaf peeping

The leaves are changing in Connecticut earlier than usual this year, giving residents and visitors the opportunity to experience a more vibrant and colorful leaf peeping season. The state’s Department of Energy & Environmental Protection (DEEP) reports that this year’s foliage is set to appear at the beginning of October, with prime viewing around Columbus Day weekend. Destinations and attractions across the state are celebrating falls’ early arrival by offering great deals, along with fun and unique ways to experience the beauty of the season – from flying high above the tree tops in a hot air balloon to adventurous tree climbing.

“Fall is an incredible time to visit Connecticut – with the leaves already starting to change, there are even more opportunities to get out and enjoy all of the natural wonders and attractions that the state has to offer this time of year,” said Randy Fiveash, director of the Connecticut Office of Tourism. “For residents and visitors alike, this is the perfect time of year to plan a Connecticut overnight getaway and take in the breathtaking views with family and friends.”

The changing season also brings the launch of the new still revolutionary fall ad campaign, which spotlights western Connecticut and some of the state’s most inspiring natural destinations, cultural sights and beloved attractions. Whether exploring Kent Falls or Lake Waramaug with family, enjoying a cozy night in at Hopkins Inn or shopping along the quaint street of New Milford, Connecticut’s scenic natural beauty begs to be discovered.
