During the 1800's, Narragansett was the middle-class version of Newport. It had summer cottages and entertainment, including a bustling casino. Ferrys would come to Narragansett Pier and trains would drop off load after load of vacationers. Modern visitors to Rhode Island no longer have a casino, but the Towers which stand like a bridge over Ocean Road still remain. And there is no shortage of restaurants and beaches to keep visitors happy to keep coming back.

Narragansett, which lies in the southeast corner of West Bay, includes the villages of Point Judith, Galilee, Jerusalem, Scarborough Hills, South Ferry, Bridgetown, Pettaquamscutt Lake Shores, Narragansett Pier, Seaweed Beach, and Bonnet Shores.

Of special note in Narragansett are the numerous beaches (including Scarborough Beach), the sea wall, the Towers (Casino), and numerous excellent restaurants. The views of the Atlantic Ocean are spectacular, particularly from Point Judith. Also of note is the South County Museum, Pettaquamscutt Cove (Long Lake), and the marshes that make the Galilee Bird Sactuary.

The shared site of the town government, the Lions Club, and the Chamber of Commerce is at www.narragansettri.com

Summertime Cottage

The Summertime Cottage was built in 2003, modeled after the traditional stone and shingle style vacation homes that line the Narragansett coast. It was thoughtfully designed for your comfort, convenience and privacy. Located in the heart of the century old seaside community that is the Narragansett Pier. French doors lead to private balconies and let in the salty breezes of the Atlantic Ocean, just one block away.
