If you're traveling in the area in late September, consider visiting the Swamp Yankee Days festival in Ashaway -- it's a small town version of a county fair. Lots of fun. If you're just hungy, you might check out the Spring Street Market in Hope Valley.
In addition to the town's numerous other lakes and rivers, of special note is the Wyoming Pond on the Wood River. This pond lies on the border betwen Hopkinton and Richmond. It's worth seeing because the dam and pond is so accessible to casual travelers. Outdoorsmen, though, may prefer the Black Farm Wildlife Management Area or th Rockville Wildlife Management Area, though neither have public boat ramps on their ponds.
The area is easily accessible by exits 1, 2, and 3 off of I-95.
