Get this East Providence Poster Now! East Providence sits in a narrow strip, across the Seekonk River from Providence. It is fairly densely populated, with 48,000 residents, though it quicly assumes an suburban feel as it approaches the Barrington town line.
Of particular interest is Crescent Park. Its full-sized carousel is over 100 years old and has been designated as the "State Symbol of Folk Art". Ponham Rocks lighthouse sits offshore, though the best views are from the water. Wompanoag Mall is at the corner of 44 and 114, in the village of Carpenters Corner. There is also a small state park, Squantum Woods State Park, that sits along the shore-hugging Vetrans Memorial Parkway.
There are many good restaurants along Newport Avenue (Alternate Route 1). The new Chelo's, almost at the Pawtucket city line is a good bet for good food.
