Along the long, windy road, were homes decorated in the traditional white lights, Santa figurines, and even patches of snow that hadn't been washed away with the rain. The smell of the salty sea air and a soft spray of seawater washed our faces as we made our way from the car to the Towers of Narragansett. Recently renovated in the past few years, to accommodate weddings, dinners theaters, fashion shows, and a host of other events, we were going to be entertained in the surrounding that once was devastated by fire.
Adorned in beautiful wooden beamed ceilings, delicately set tables, and the flavor of Christmas, was the setting for our evening out on the town. A cabaret of singers performed while we were making our way towards our table. The night started out with the actors from the Kaleidoscope Theater, mingling their way from table to table, hinting discreetly at certain details that might assist us in “who done it” and “why”. The theme of the evening was “A Killer Cabaret” with each actor given whimsical names such as “Lucky Charms, Sugar Smax, Razen Brand, Coco Krispie, Agrava Krispie and Rhyce Krispie. The audience was dragged, some willingly, some not so, to participate in the different skits of the evening. My dinner companion ended up portraying a beanie baby that was reluctant to give up his favorite bottle!

In between each “skit” we were served a four course meal, each exquisitely served by West Bay Gormet catering with the taste of the evening: creamy potato leek soup, baby greens with honey thyme vinaigrette, grilled chicken breast over linguine with spinach, yellow pepper zucchini and tomato with fresh basil, and finally, apple tart with whipped cream and cinnamon, and coffee. Each time the meal was served, we were again entertained by the “murderers and victims” reminding us to listen carefully to the “clues” they were giving us as to “who” did “what” to “who”.
The finale came, when once again, the audience was asked to participate, this time, by submitting their own submission on index cards, as to “who” did “what” to “whom”. We are all surprised to find the identiy of the "cereal killer" who tried to kill “Agrava Krispie” with poision wine. The lucky entry from the audience was awarded with a prize for their accurate guess as to who committed the murder, not before we were entertained with the “worse” guesses at who committed the crime.
A wild night of fun, filled with laughter from all, in a beautiful serene dining area, and best of yet, being out with my best buddy.
