The show will present work that explores the relationship between metaphysical concepts and artistic practice.

The interaction between artists and metaphysical concepts is a natural one in that artists frequently find inspiration from intangible, metaphysical ideas and seek to portray them into physical, sensory forms. The artists involved in the Manifestations of the Metaphysical Group Exhibition all engage in metaphysical concepts either as an approach or as a concept for their art. For example, scientific laws and theories such as the concept of "Flow" are explored as both a working method and as a final expression.

Visitors will be presented with the opportunity to examine abstract, philosophical ideas in the physically manifested form of each artwork. In this way, one can contemplate metaphysically intangible ideas through the vehicle of physical, sensory form. The intent of the "Manifestations of the Metaphysical" show is to raise the consciousness levels of all who attend by bringing awareness to the universal forces that unite us.

"Manifestations of the Metaphysical" opens August 6 and runs until September 3, 2005. An opening reception will be held on Saturday, August 6 from 7 to 10 p.m., and the public is invite to meet the artists and enjoy hors' d'oeuvres and refreshments.

The Warwick Museum of Art is located in Historic Apponaug Village, and gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 12 to 5 p.m. For further information, please call the Museum office at 401-737-0010 or visit their Web site at www.warwickmuseum.org.
