Spain in Narragansett, RI
A great alternative to Italian and Seafood in Rhode Island, Spain offers the food of the Spanish Mediterranean -- lighter in flavor than what most people think of as Spanish. This is upscale dining -- soft music, candles, wine, a sparkling fountain, and a place to be fearless with your choices from the menu. Spain is pricier than most South County restaurants, but well worth it if you want to have a fancy evening out. The service is great.
The restaurant is not associated with the Spain in Cranston, and they do recognize the discounts in the Entertainment coupon book.
Aunt Carrie's is responsible for the Rhode Island tradition of clam cakes -- the Ocean State's version of hushpuppies, these are deep-fat-fried bread balls with bits of clams inside. They do a booming take-out business and have a nice dining room with some pleasant scenery.
The menu is primarily seafood, nothing too fancy and nothing too expensive. Restroom facilities are a bit rustic.
Aunt Carrie's is highly recommended for a casual lunch or dinner after splashing around on the nearby state beaches.
This location for Iggy's duplicates the menu of the more famous Iggy's at Oakland Beach in Warwick. The same doughboys, the same clam cakes, the same fish and chips. You can even get Yacht Club sodas and one of the few home-town hamburgers in Rhode Island.
This Iggy's is 100% take-out, mostly servicing beachgoers in the area (and some brave Rhode Islanders who wandered too far from Warwick). If you're not headed to or from the beaches, you might check out Point Judith Lighthouse, farther along on 183 (Point Judith Road).
To get to these three resaurants, head south on 108 until it meets Ocean Road. Iggy's and Aunt Carrie's are on the corner. If you continue on Ocean Road less than a mile, Spain will be on the right. Or, if you head south on Ocean Road from Narragansett and you'll find it about three miles south of the Towers.
