The Birthplace of the Clam Cake

Aunt Carrie's, Narragansett, RI

Aunt Carrie's Restaurant

Aunt Carrie's is responsible for the Rhode Island tradition of clam cakes -- the Ocean State's version of hushpuppies, these are deep-fat-fried bread balls with bits of clams inside. They do a booming take-out business and have a nice dining room with some nice scenery.

Google
The menu is primarily seafood, nothing too fancy and nothing too expensive. Restroom facilities are a bit rustic.

To find them, they are at the intersection of Route 108 and Ocean Road in Narragansett. This puts them easily accessible from the area beaches, Galilee, Point Judith lighthouse, and Narragansett.

Aunt Carrie's is highly recommended for a casual lunch or dinner after splashing around on the nearby state beaches.
