Interstate 295 in Rhode Island

Bypass Providence and see Western Rhode Island

I-295, Interstate 295, in Rhode Island

I-295 bypasses Providence, connecting to I-95 at both ends. Headed north, it leaves I-95 as a left hand split, so keep to the left lane.

Through most of its length, it travels thorough countryside, occasionally traveling through deep cuts in the stone hillsides.

Exits are sequential, with A and B denoting exits that travel east and west respectively. If there is no A or B, the exit goes both east and west. The only tricky exits are for Highway 6 and 6A (sometimes called Grand Army Highway or Hartford Avenue). These exits split off together and run parallel to I-295 before exiting. Also, Exit 1 exists going south only.

Shopping malls may be a very good reason to travel I-295. Exit 1 is for Rhode Island Mall, Exit 2 is for Warwick Mall, Exit 7B goes to Apple Valley Mall, Exit 9 takes you to Lincoln Mall, and over the border in Massachusetts at their Exit 1 you'll find Emerald Square Mall.
