How you can get your business promoted by RI Roads

You need an audience

Rhode Island Roads Magazine has 175,000 readers each month online and that number is increasing rapidly. This makes our readership the second largest publication in Rhode Island, surpassing The Providence Journal (160,000) and ahead of the Providence Pheonix (62,000) and Rhode Island Monthly (40,000). We anticipate over 200,000 readers a month a year from now. ( Current Stats Here.)

We are ranked in the top 10 by Google for the search terms "Rhode Island Travel", "Rhode Island Tourism", "RI Entertainment" and many many others. These numbers change frequently, but if it's related to Rhode Island, we're probably well ranked by Google, making us a great place to advertise online. Rhode Island business owners checking their own business names in Google are often suprised to find that we even outrank their websites on Google!

You need an audience with money to spend

Our typical reader is a married female aged 35 to 60 with a high disposable income living in or traveling regularly to Rhode Island, though that description is by no means exclusive. We are rapidly adding new readers in the younger population with the expansion of our nightlife and entertainment sections. Presently 25% of our readers live in the Ocean State and only 5% live outside the US.

You need an interested and focused audience

The internet is the perfect place for a travel magazine and for advertising travel- and tourism-related products and services. Over 50% of all air travel and hotels are now booked online. Over 90% of all out-of-state travel is researched online. We can also reach people visiting Rhode Island no matter where they are -- we have subscribers from as far away as New Zealand and Russia.

Unlike most places you can advertise on the internet, the audience of RIRoads is focused on Rhode Island, meaning that advertising goes to an audience receptive to ads for Rhode Island businesses.

You need RI Roads Magazine!

We provide four categories of advertising -- run-of-site, permanent, focused, and directory listings.

Our Run-of-site ads have the greatest exposure and broadest audience, appearing in the same place on every page, so will be seen more than 400,000 times in a month. (Imagine how much it would cost to have an ad on the top of every single page of the Providence Journal for a month.) This is ideal for advertisers who want visibility among readers intersted in Rhode Island in general -- a real estate company, for instance, or a restaurant. Run-of-site ads are priced per month.

Our permanent ads exist only on one page. While there will be fewer eyes over the short term, we maintain our articles indefinitely, meaning that we continue to draw in readers month after month for the same article. (Some of our articles still get thousands of readers per month, even two years after they were first published.) Those readers are focused not only on Rhode Island in general, but on the subject in particular. This is ideal for businesses with specific focuses, for instance an ad for a fishing shop in an article about the opening of fishing season each year. Article-specific ads are priced as a one-time fee, with no renewals needed.

Our focused ads lie somewhere between article-specific and run-of site. They are placed on the front page, section pages, city pages, and other pages that are updated regularly, in the same spots on the page that article ads would use. By being placed in a section-head, for instance, an ad would reach a more sharply-focused audience than a run-of-site ad. Featured ads can be placed on the front page.

Our directory listings are similar in concept to the yellow pages. At the most basic level, we provide simple contact information for free to Rhode Island businesses, but we also have structured display listings that stand out from the crowd. These upgraded listings are structured ads with picture, text, color, and headline to make them stand out among the other listings and get a lot of attention. They measure approximately 6 inches by 2 inches, depending on the amount of accompanying text.

These rates presume that all text, artwork, and photography is provided by the advertiser. Photography and graphic design is available at reasonable rates. We can also design one-page web-brochures or even whole websites to your specifications.

We have a tremendous amount of flexability in the advertising, so that if there's something special you would like we can discuss it. For instance, we could include an ad between pages which would require a reader to see an ad before moving on to the content. We can also have the ad reside on your website, giving you complete control of the actual content of the ad.

We do not provide popup or popunder ads. We also do not provide advertising in mailings to our readers. RI Roads accepts advertising that is not illegal, offensive, or misleading and which is of interest to our readers. We will deal only with advertisers and vendors who make similar commitments.

Our rate card gives the rates for all of our advertising options.

Please email Paul Pence, our managing editor at 401/480-9355 editor@riroads.com to discuss your advertising needs.
